Magret Matz, Mossyrock Clinic Multi-Clinic Medical Assistant
Nominated by: Jamie Brazil
Core Values: Own it, embrace it
and Motivate, elevate, appreciate
In my 16-year healthcare career, I have had the opportunity to work with many professionals, but I have never encountered anyone quite like Magret. Her dedication, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond are truly remarkable.
Magret consistently looks for ways to improve our processes and is always ready to lend a helping hand at a moment's notice. Her ability to stay late or adjust her schedule to ensure our patients and team members are covered is a testament to her commitment and selflessness. Her direct and effective communication for the greater good of the clinic and Arbor Health is invaluable. This place would not be the same without Magret's presence and contributions. She is an exceptional colleague and a true team player. Her unique qualities and unwavering support make a significant positive impact on everyone around her!
Outstanding Non-Direct Patient Care Service Excellence Award
Angela McDonald, Patient Access Representative
Nominated by: Heidi Smith
Core Values: Go out of your way to brighten someone's day
Know the way, show the way, ease the way
Find joy along the way
This person is ALWAYS uplifting employees. She comes to work with a smile on her face every day and kind words for all. She is amazing with patients not only in the ER but at the front desk as well. She represents our hospital very well with her compassion for every person that walks through the front doors. She makes this place feel welcoming. She is great at answering everyone's questions, if she doesn't know the answer she will go out of her way to find it.
I can hear the patients interacting with her all the time as she opens up a very friendly environment here at the hospital. She has also made the patient access department fun and crazy at the same time. She can be loud at times, but we all know the more excited she gets about something, the louder she gets! Which is great for people that are hard of hearing.... lol
This person needs to know that the love and support she give all workers at Arbor Health is not unnoticed! She also needs to know how much we appreciate the smile she puts on all our patients' faces before they make it to their appointments.
Outstanding Leadership Award
Sara Riley, Environment of Care Supervisor
Nominated by: Will Sullivan
Core Values: One team, one mission
Know the way, show the way, ease the way
Own it, embrace it
Own it Embrace it—Since taking on the role of EOC/ Security Officer, Sara has excelled in every aspect of the position. Sara has taken ownership of her programs in emergency management, safety, and security in addition to some items that cross over into her realm. She not only owns it and embraces it, but she also has a high level of professionalism and pride in improving the areas that she has been entrusted with. The hospital district is better equipped, prepared, and ready for a diverse range of challenges because of the hard work she does each day. She has made a definite impact to our organization.
Know the way, show the way Ease the way / One Team one Mission—In addition to overseeing emergency situations that could potentially affect the hospital, Sara also diligently tracks security and emergency incidents within the building itself. I know of several instances where staff that do not report to Sara have solicited her knowledge and expertise in navigating challenges that they face. These have ranged from personal conflicts to the proper way of responding to a QMM/ Action Que. Some of these requests have occurred when Sara was off for the day, however she always takes time to teach others, to guide people to resolution, and to help where she can. It does not matter what team you are in; she supports everyone.

Outstanding Non-Direct Patient Care Service Excellence Award
Jason Leland, Facility Engineering Technician
Nominated by: Janice Cramer
Core Values: One team, one mission
and Know the way, show the way, ease the way
Jason is always working hard and going out of his way to ensure everyone is getting what they need, which shows one team, one mission. He's always in a good mood when you see him walking to his next work order item. We had a small timeline to get several boxes moved for Medical Records from the Business office in Mossyrock to the hospital to be ready for destruction. He jumped in and made a plan and has been in constant communication with me during the process, which to me is the definition of know the way, show the way, ease the way. I greatly appreciate his hard work and willingness to jump in and help and always with a smile.
Jason gave me the feeling of knowing this project was going to get done and in the small timeframe allowed. I know I was not the only one needing his assistance at this time so the communication was important to me that I knew I could count on him. He is very easy to work with, and I am grateful he is with our organization.

Sam Smith, Facility Engineering Technician
Nominated by: Amanda Seals
Hired: June 16, 2025
Core Value: One team, one mission
This was Sam's first year in overseeing the Facilities side of the Health Expo. I was inspired by his positive attitude, enthusiasm, and expertise when it comes to organizing all that is needed for the event. From the planning and preparation stage to during and after the event, Sam was always there to help wherever he was needed. After the event Sam attended a meeting to review the positives and what could be improved upon for next year's event. He came with a detailed list from the event. He made sure that the team had key takeaways from the Facilities perspective. He highlighted successes and also offered his suggestions that would help with certain details next year. Also, Sam not only offered to help with the event, which was in the early morning of his normal day off, but he worked until 10 pm the evening prior and had to maneuver tables, chairs, the 5K arch, etc. in inclement weather conditions. Everyone on the Health Expo and 5K team agree that Sam did a wonderful job!
Sam had a positive impact that reflected in his work with not only getting the job done but making it meaningful by detailing the positives and what can be improved upon for next year.
